CrafTATstic: Crafty Tattoos – Red Paint’s foot tattoo
 |
As you may have seen, for the first installment of CrafTATstic Crafty Tattoos, I featured LUBEE and her fabulous fiber sleeve. For the second installment, I thought I’d go a little more restrained. Some people don’t want a full sleeve, like LUBEE. They want something smaller, something more easily hidden. And that’s where Red Paint comes in… |
Our second featured tattoo is from Red Paint and it’s a fabulous one! It’s simple, it’s beautiful, and it’s meaning is immediately apparent to most of her crafty kindred. (If you’re not aware of where her quote comes from, then where have you been? I mean, check this out.) I love the quote, I love the thread, I love the placement, I love it all!
This is one of my favorites! I’m so happy to see it featured.
Really? She’s crafty like ice is cold? That song is about a dirty stealing whore…… Not something I would want tattooed on me.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that a lot of members of the crafting community have taken this song and embraced its title/chorus as a literal phrase, instead of a euphemism.

Lyrics, much like tattoos, are totally open to personal interpretation. Rock on.
I want to see what’s on her other foot!
I love it. I think foot tattoos are awesome (I have one too, though not craft-inspired).
I think the lyrics are also amazing…if you let them mean something nasty, then that’s you. It’s like giving someone permission to put you down because of your tattoos or other body choices- ridiculous. Great choice and very nicely executed!!!
“No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.” Eleanor Roosevelt
Thanks so much for the honor!!! I’m well aware that the song was written about a promiscuous young gal who (allegedly) stole a lot of stuff from the B-Boys, and the intended meaning of “crafty” in the song meant “thieving bitch.” But, like others, I’m going to interpret as I choose and twist their lyrics a bit.
Flightycrafter: Thanks — Not sure if this link will work, but here’s the right foot:

I love that I am not the only one that when i sing that song i think of making stuff. I love the tat!
i love that
I totally love it!!!! It goes great with the other one, and you have such pretty feet.
Ok, I have to admit, I have not heard the song. So I maybe out of the loop, but I love the tat! I have several tats and have always wanted one on my foot – so I’m curious, pain level – 1-10? And how about healing time. I can’t wear flip flops to work, so curious how long you have to have foot uncovered for this to heal properly??
So no matter what the song means, you made it yours, kuddos to you! They look great!
She’s crafty, and she’s just my type!
Like ice is cold is amazing tatoo.
So great! I’m getting another tattoo and I want to get needle and thread but couldn’t figure out the placement! Thanks for sharing…looks great!
LOVE IT! Love the phrase! Love the needle and thread! Love the placement! Looks great!
Love it! Beastie Boys, crafting, and tattoos. Three of my favorite things.
I love it!
I actually just got a foot tattoo yesterday!
Ouch! AnnChan that’s a little harsh don’t you think? I personally love the tattoo, it’s beautifully done and it brought back great childhood memories of the B-Boys.
Wow, Annchan, way to be a jerk. It’s obviously wordplay. Yikes.
I think it’s cool! I haven’t seen a lot of threaded needles around!
Yep, I totally think the crafty interpretation of this lyric is the way to go
I think some are just jealous when others get attention. Rock it sister!
i didnt know the song, so i looked it up. i love the tattoo, and i thinks its so cute how she used those lyrics in her own way to express herself.
That is such a cute tattoo and the placement is great. I love the fact that you used the lyrics in your own way. It’s your body and if you love it, that’s all that matters.
PERFECT!!!
Thanks for posting the other foot, the ladybug is such a nice touch! I love how each foot has it’s own sort of charm!
Love the tattoo! Also love the community that confronts snarky people. Way to keep it positive, guys!
