Blank-ity Blanks

Here are some places where you can buy blank items to decorate to your crafty heart’s content. The great thing about these places are that the items are inexpensive and you can buy as few as you need.

Oriental Trading has a gazillion neat blank things to work with like placemats, tote bags, picture frames, tins, pillow covers, jewelry boxes, etc, etc.

Dharma Trading specializes in cloth-based blanks for dyeing but you could use them do iron-on transfers or silk-screening or embroidery. They sell all kinds of clothing blanks like t-shirts and baby one-pieces, and then a huge range of miscellaneous items like many styles of bags and purses, tea towels, etc.

T-ShirtWholesaler.com was mentioned on the Craftster Forum as a place where you can find a huge selection of styles of blank t-shirts where there’s no minium order but the more you buy the cheaper the shirts are. And they’re already cheap to begin with!

If you’ve got other good companies I should add, leave a comment and I’ll update this entry.

Beneficial Tees sells organic cotton t-shirts, totes, and caps. I believe they have a minimum order as they are more of a wholesale company, but they are great! DIYers supporting other DIYers! Any other good organic or sustainable crafty companies?

I just ordered some tote bags from http://www.casualapparelwarehouse.com . They’re the cheapest that I’ve found, I haven’t gotten their product yet so we’ll see how the quality is, but $1.39 for a plain black tote bag is pretty amazing in my opinion. Their Hanes Beefy T’s look reasonably priced as well.

American Apparel (www.americanapparel.net) has nice shapes and colors, like spitbubbleluv said. They’re more expensive than many blank t-shirts, but they’re totally sweat-shop-free, American-made, often organic cotton so you can feel morally upstanding buying them. They also have wholesale available.
