Anything But Clothes parties are tons of fun! If you’re not familiar with the concept, the party-goers are required to arrive wearing clothing fashioned out of unconventional materials like shower curtains or plastic tablecloths. If you’re going to be attending an Anything But Clothes party soon, you could, of course, take the easy way out and cut a couple of holes in a black plastic trash bag, but HEY! You are a Craftster, and this is the perfect opportunity to let your creativity shine through. You need to show the other party goers what you’re working with. In case you need a little creativity jump start, here are some great examples of wearable items made from unique materials from some of your fellow Craftsters.
Im Sew Silly designed this beautiful Southern mourning dress and made it out of a couple of shower curtains and some paper doilies. All her supplies were purchased at a Dollar Store, so you can achieve a look similar to this for next to nothing!
Is fur more of your style? Then you’ll love this chic faux fur top that LiquidScissors created from a few large stuffed bears. The coordinating skirt is made from an old curtain, and one of the bear’s eyes serves as a lovely button on the fur waistband.
Are you a knitter? Use something other than yarn to knit up a fun garment. fizzysister knit this awesome shrug with cassette tape. She even used the little spool used to wind the tape as the front button.
Part of the fun of an Anything but Clothes party is using materials you already have around the house. Got any old games you don’t play anymore? See if you can use them for parts. Look at this adorable dress that elliebelly123 made out of Monopoly money.
If you really want to make a statement, gather all your craft supplies and just go for it! KatintheCappello did just that for her Kitschy Kraft Fairy costume. She used, among other things, duct tape, scrap felt, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners and craft loops.
