Mr X Stitch presents The Cutting (& Stitching) Edge – July 29th, 2009

Welcome to the Cutting (& Stitching) Edge! I’m Mr X Stitch and I’ll be your guide to the best in contemporary embroidery. Each week I’ll showcase someone who is rocking the world of embroidery and textiles.

Meagan Ileana’s work moves me.

Her stitched pieces are beautiful. They are personal, exploring quiet moments, but with simple elegance.

Her use of outline is echoes the art nouveau style, but her characterisation reminds me of the wonderful work in Terry Moore’s Strangers In Paradise.

Every piece of work that I see brings a smile to my face. Her stitched vignettes are sometimes joyful and sometimes poignant. But always beautiful.

You can see more Meagan’s work onĀ her blog, or atĀ her Flickr photostream. Or if you’re in the Bloomington, Indiana area, then go and seeĀ her work for real!

Do you love this as much as I do?
