 | 100.107 For Hundreds of years cannon shots have been used in sounding alarms, signalling the time, starting races, signifying a place of rallying, sounding reveille for the troops, marking the sunset, punctuating a ceremony and recognizing sporting events. The 15 Black Powder barrels are constructed of uncored iron castings with the bores drilled, under the authentic principle which emerged in the mid-18th century and remained the standard up through the end of the era of muzzle loading ordinance, with bores steel-sleeved after drilling, thus meeting or exceeding bore construction standards accepted by the National Park Service.
